Your options for Capital One miles
You have four ways to use Capital One miles, and they pay very differently.
- Sell your Capital One miles through The Miles Market. This solution works best for owners who would rather have cash than redeem their miles.
- Erase a travel purchase. You can wipe a travel charge from your statement at 1 cent per mile, within 90 days of the purchase.
- Transfer to an airline or hotel partner. You can move miles to more than 20 partners, including Air Canada Aeroplan, Flying Blue, British Airways, Turkish Airlines and Wyndham. This can beat 1 cent, but only if award seats exist on your dates.
- Book travel through Capital One Travel. Each mile is worth 1 cent toward flights, hotels and rental cars booked in the portal.
- Cash back or a statement credit. This is the lowest value, at roughly half a cent per mile.
To redeem, log in, select View Rewards and choose how you want to use your miles.
What your Capital One miles are worth
Your miles are worth about 1 cent each when you book travel with Capital One, and about half that as cash. That means 100,000 miles buys around $1,000 of portal travel but only about $500 as a statement credit.
When you sell to The Miles Market, you get a cash offer for your whole balance, paid straight to you. You can spend that cash on anything, including a paid flight that earns you more miles.
How to transfer or combine Capital One miles
You can move Capital One miles to another person or combine them across your own cards, with no fee and no limit.
- Between your own cards: log in, select View Rewards, then Move Rewards, and pick the card. If you hold a Venture card, you can also convert Quicksilver, Savor or Spark Cash rewards into miles.
- To another person: call the number on the back of your card and give the recipient’s name and card number. They need their own miles-earning Capital One card, so a spouse with their own account qualifies.
Combining before you sell gives you one larger balance, and larger balances often get a better offer.
Capital One transfer partners: airlines and hotels
Capital One miles transfer to about 18 airlines and four hotel programs, and most transfers arrive instantly. To transfer, open View Rewards and choose Transfer Miles.
Airline partners include Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, British Airways, Avianca LifeMiles, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Singapore KrisFlyer, Turkish Airlines, TAP Air Portugal and Virgin Red. Hotel partners are Wyndham Rewards, Choice Privileges, Accor Live Limitless and I Prefer Hotel Rewards.
American Airlines, United, Delta and Southwest aren’t partners, and neither are Hyatt, Marriott or Hilton. You can still book American flights with British Airways Avios and United flights with Turkish Miles&Smiles. Transfers only go one way, so check award space before you move miles.
Using Capital One points for flights and hotels
You can book any flight or hotel through Capital One Travel at 1 cent per mile, so a $300 flight costs 30,000 miles. Award flights through transfer partners vary by airline, route and cabin.
For hotels, you can book in the portal, transfer to one of the four hotel partners, or erase a hotel charge from your statement within 90 days.
Does Capital One price match hotels?
Yes. Capital One Travel price matches hotels, flights and rental cars. If you find the same booking cheaper within 24 hours of booking, call 844-422-6922 and you get the difference as a travel credit. The price must match exactly, be in US dollars and be open to the public.
Can you use Capital One points for Airbnb?
Not directly. Airbnb isn’t in Capital One Travel and isn’t a transfer partner. If you pay for an Airbnb with your Venture card, you may be able to erase the charge with miles as a travel purchase.
Which Capital One cards qualify
We buy miles earned on any Venture card: Venture X, Venture, VentureOne and their business versions. If you also hold a Quicksilver, Savor or Spark Cash card, you can convert that cash back into miles first and sell the combined balance.
