AAdvantage is the loyalty program for American Airlines, the world's first frequent flyer program, launched in 1981. Members earn miles through American Airlines flights, oneworld partner airlines including British Airways, Qatar Airways, and Japan Airlines, co-branded credit cards, and everyday spending through the AAdvantage eShopping portal and other partners.
AAdvantage miles can be redeemed for award flights on American and its oneworld partners, upgrades, car rentals, hotel stays, vacations, and Admirals Club lounge access. The strongest value comes from award flights, particularly premium cabin redemptions on oneworld partner airlines.
Important: AAdvantage miles expire after 24 months of inactivity. Any qualifying earn or redemption resets the clock. If you are a primary AAdvantage credit cardholder, your miles do not expire as long as the card account stays open. Members under 21 are also exempt until they turn 21.
